Duplex & Super Duplex
Duplex steels are such steels that have a two-phase structure of ferritic and austenitic portions. As a result, the characteristics of chromium and chromium nickel steels are combined. Duplex steels therefore show a higher strength than the austenitic steels. At the same time, they are characterised by a higher ductility.
The difference between super duplex steels and standard duplex is the higher portion of chromium, nickel and molybdenum. It is characterised by a particularly high corrosion resistance and high strength. Super duplex steel is therefore suitable for demanding fields of application such as the desalination of seawater.
